panda Foundation Welcomes Two Visionaries to Board, Elevating Global Impact

To fortify its mission of sustainable change, panda Foundation proudly announces the addition of two esteemed members to its Board of Directors. Renowned for their commitment to sustainability in all areas of life and a vision that intertwines economic, social, and environmental considerations, the new board members bring a wealth of expertise to panda’s global initiatives.

Professor Wei Shyy

Professor Wei Shyy, former President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST, 2018-2022), brings invaluable insights into the application of state-of-the-art technologies that advance heritage and environmental protection. As Provost from 2010, he initiated campus-wide initiatives, including interdisciplinary faculty recruitment and the Sustainable Smart Campus scheme. His 2021 strategic plan fused curiosity-driven and mission-encouraged pursuits. Under his leadership, HKUST garnered unprecedented donations and Government matching grants, facilitating campus-wide enhancements. A distinguished figure in aerospace engineering, Mr. Shyy’s accolades include the AIAA Pendray Aerospace Literature Award and the Legion of Honor from the French Government in 2021. His legacy reflects a commitment to academic excellence, sustainability, and societal engagement.

Rolf Bernhard

Joining him is Mr. Rolf Bernhard, a visionary in sustainable agricultural development. Rolf Bernhard is Head of Agronomy and Production Systems at the largest Swiss retail company (Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund) and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL. He has extensive experience as a farm manager, managing director and board member. His passion is research into sustainable and integrated production methods – “from the field to the plate”. He will further strengthen the link to the needs of agronomy stakeholders and to the retail trade, processing systems and consumers. His track record of spearheading initiatives that harmonize economic growth as well as environmental stewardship perfectly resonates with panda’s mission.

“As we restructure our Board, we are thrilled to welcome Professor Wei Shyy and Mr. Rolf Bernhard, individuals whose passion and expertise mirror our commitment to tangible, positive change globally. Their collective wisdom will propel panda Foundation to new heights in our quest for a sustainable and balanced future,” remarked Ms. Wenyan Jiang, Founder and President of panda Foundation.

Together, Mr. Bernhard and Prof. Shyy are set to catalyse innovative strategies, driving panda’s influence towards a more sustainable and harmonious world. Their combined experience in fostering global collaborations aligns seamlessly with panda’s dedication to concrete action for worldwide benefit.
